Organized by Glendon Hispanic Studies professors Esther Raventós and Alejandro Zamora, the conference provides opportunities for an exchange of critical contributions on current Spanish-Peninsular art and literature from the perspective of the 21st century. It is also intended to serve as a forum for debating new interdisciplinary, experimental and multimedia research and approaches that connect diverse literary and art theories, as well as cultural studies, history, translation and other relevant fields.
Two important international participants join a number of Canadian researchers and academics for this conference. Dr. Pere Salabert, professor of esthetics and art theory at the University of Barcelona, returns to Glendon as the keynote speaker. He was the keynote speaker in 2008 on the occasion of the launching of the Spanish Resource Centre at Glendon. Professor Salabert is the author of several books. His most recent titles are: Pintura anémica, cuerpo suculento (2003), El pensamiento visible (2003), La redención de la carne. Hastío del alma y elogio de la pudrición (2004), Sphairos.
