Winners of the Glendon Students Visual Arts Competition

Toronto, January 17, 2012 – Glendon Gallery is proud to announce the five winners of the Glendon Students Visual Arts Competition. The winners were recognized at the Opening reception on Tuesday, January 17th in the presence of Rob Tiffin, Vice-President Students, York University, Kenneth McRoberts, Principal of Glendon College, Rosanna Furgiuele, Associate Principal, Student Services, Glendon College, Jaclyn Volkhammer, Representative of the Friends of Glendon, and Gillian Wassmansdorf, Vice-President Social of the Glendon College Student Union.
The Winners are:
First Prize, offered by the Vice-President Students, York University, is awarded to Emmanuel Elkabas-Besnard for his artwork entitled Aurora borealis, acrylic on canvas.
Second Prize, offered by the Principal of Glendon College, goes to Sébastien Goulet for his photograph L’automne.
Third Prize sponsored by the Friends of Glendon is awarded to Heriberto Portillo Lerma for his artwork entitled The Great Wave Collage, mixed medium on canvas.
Fourth Prize awarded by the Associate Principal, Student Services, Glendon College goes to Ayla Altilia for her artwork entitled Autumn Birches, acrylic on canvas.
Fifth Prize offered by the Glendon College Student Union goes to Nina Staer Nathan, for her photographs entitled Going to Market.
Our special thanks go to the jury members who were assigned the most difficult task of selecting the winners: Denis Leclerc, visual artist, Director and principle Associate of Costa Leclerc Design; André Pilon, visual artist & photographer; Jeanne-Elyse Renaud, Museologist.
Thanks to Kimberley Judd, curator of the exhibition and head of promotion and to the Gallery student team members for their valuable contributions: Elizabeth Banerd, Anne-Sophie Boutet, Janny Le and Eninna Luli.
