Writing History in a Ruined World: Machiavelli and His Friends on the Lessons of Florentine History

Professor Jurdjevic just completed A Great and Wretched City: Promise and Failure in Machiavelli’s Florentine Political Thought  (Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press, Spring 2014). He also wrote Guardians of Republicanism: The Valori Family in the Florentine Renaissance  (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2008). His research has been funded by Fulbright, SSHRC, the Institute for Advanced Study, and the Harvard Centre for Renaissance Studies. He will be back teaching for the Glendon History department in 2014 and looks forward to meeting some of you at the reception after his talk!
