Antares Publishing House of Spanish Culture is presenting “The Whirling of the Serpent: Quetzalcoatl Resurrected” at a Glendon launching, under the aegis of York University Bookstores. This book was originally written in Spanish by José Luís Díaz and published in Mexico in 2006, under the title of “El Revuelo de la Serpiente: Quetzalcóatl Resucitado”. The launching will take place on Thursday, November 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in room 102 Glendon Hall.
“The Whirling of the Serpent: Quetzalcoatl Resurrected” is a carefully researched book dealing with the myth of Quetzalcoatl, the Pre-Columbian god also known as the "Plumed Serpent". Starting from Pre-Columbian times and continuing to the present day, this myth has transcended its Mesoamerican origins, manifesting itself in other latitudes of the Americas.
Gerardo Ochoa, Cultural Attaché of the Consulate of Mexico in Toronto will be present at the launching. There will also be a musical interlude of Mexican traditional and ancient themes performed by Mexican ethnomusicologist Jorge Lopez. Everyone is cordially invited.
Antares Publishing House of Spanish Culture is grateful for the support provided by the Office of the Principal of Glendon College and by York University Bookstores. Thanks are also expressed to the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) for making this translation possible.
